CT Food Bank's GROW! Truck improves nutrition for families in Milford
The CT Food Bank's GROW Up with Good Nutrition program was a success at the Beth-El Center. The GROW! Truck, a mobile food pantry dedicated to hosting workshops on nutrition education, provided healthy food and nutrition information to families with young children while also allowing them the opportunity to shop for over 70lbs worth of food.
"We're pleased to get involved with educating families on the importance of good nutrition and how to prepare healthy meals," says Toni Dolan, Beth-El Executive Director.
The "GROW!" Truck is a refrigerated vehicle with shelves that are loaded with items such as apples, pears, grapefruit, oranges, potatoes, onions, carrots, low-fat milk, peanut butter, brown rice, tuna, ground beef and fish. Families enrolled in the program also received information on how to prepare foods that are unfamiliar to them.
