No need to call 2-1-1 first. Beth-El Center's Diversion Specialists complete CAN assessments on-site and provide same-day support whenever possible.
Purpose of the CAN appointment: Understand the household's immediate situation and determine whether the client can be diverted from homelessness. When funding allows, financial assistance may help a household stabilize without entering shelter (e.g., landlord or family mediation, upfront rental costs, relocation support).
Individuals and families in the Greater New Haven CAN who are unsheltered or at imminent risk of homelessness. We serve the Connecticut shoreline (Milford → Madison) and the lower Naugatuck Valley.
